A personal experience that changed my view of medicine
After moving from Brazil to the United States, I developed an autoimmune disease. What followed was a long and difficult search for answers. I moved from one appointment to another, met with many practitioners, and too often felt dismissed, poorly treated, or left without the understanding and support I needed. I felt confused and isolated.
Then I met Dr. Frank Lipman.
Frank helped me understand my health more deeply and keep my autoimmune disease at bay. He showed me what medicine can feel like when someone takes the time to listen, looks beyond an isolated symptom, and cares about the person in front of them. He also helped me understand how stress affects the body and how seemingly small choices and pressures can accumulate over time.
That experience became the foundation for the company I wanted to build: medicine that acts earlier and considers longevity from the beginning; access to exceptional physicians, specialists, and advanced diagnostic resources that remain connected around the member; and an experience in which clinical excellence is inseparable from warmth, attention, and follow-through.
Over time, he and his wife, Janice, became my mentors and the people I am fortunate to call family in the United States.
Today, I have the extraordinary honor of having Dr. Frank Lipman serve as Chief Medical Officer of The Maximum Life.
A preventive and longevity medicine practice
The Maximum Life is a preventive and longevity medicine practice based in Miami, serving members in most U.S. states. We work with each member for at least one year, bringing together advanced diagnostic resources, an experienced medical team, trusted clinical and technology partners, and continuous human support in a highly individualized model of care.
Our goal is to help members understand their health more completely, recognize risks earlier, and act on what can be changed before a concern becomes urgent. Prevention is not certainty, and no model of care can promise that every disease will be avoided. What we can create is the time, context, and continuity needed to make better decisions and protect health, physical capacity, performance, and autonomy for the future.
Longevity is about the life inside the years
The longevity we pursue is not simply the number of years someone may live. It is the ability to live those years well.
It means continuing to move, travel, work, create, and enjoy the activities that bring meaning to life. It means preserving the independence to participate fully in the world, having more quality time with the people we love, and feeling the difference in energy, resilience, and well-being in daily life.
A biomarker in isolation rarely expresses the life a person wants to protect. Blood pressure, glucose, cholesterol, body composition, sleep, and cardiovascular capacity become meaningful when they are connected to the ability to climb a mountain, carry a grandchild, travel with confidence, remain independent, or simply have the energy to be fully present.
Using what medicine and technology have made possible
We are living through a remarkable convergence of medicine, technology, imaging, biomarkers, genetics, and continuous monitoring. Diagnostic resources that did not exist, or were not broadly accessible, only a short time ago can now help us establish a more complete baseline, identify areas that deserve attention, and observe how health changes over time.
At The Maximum Life, we use these resources with purpose. The medical team selects what is relevant to each member's history, goals, and clinical context. Results are interpreted together and used to inform a personal plan of care.
The meaning of a result depends on the person behind it. The right priorities for one member may be entirely different for another, even when a number on a report looks similar. That is why our work is designed around the individual rather than around a generic protocol.
A plan only matters when it reaches real life
A recommendation on paper has limited value if a person does not understand it, cannot act on it, or is left alone to coordinate what comes next.
Execution is part of the care itself. Our team helps organize diagnostics, appointments, communication with specialists, and next steps. We explain what results mean, answer questions, and help members translate recommendations into daily life. This high-touch human support continues between appointments, when many of the most important decisions and obstacles actually arise.
Continuity also allows us to learn. Members become better able to recognize how their bodies respond to changes and to clinically appropriate protocols. Symptoms, habits, diagnostic results, and trends can show what is working and what needs to be adjusted, whether the focus is nutrition, movement, sleep, recovery, stress, or, when appropriate, interventions such as hormone therapy or peptides.
The goal is not to hand someone a fixed plan. It is to build a relationship in which the member and the medical team can measure, understand, adapt, and keep moving forward together.
Bringing exceptional expertise together
The Maximum Life works with carefully selected physicians, specialists, diagnostic providers, and wellness and technology partners. These relationships can extend the spectrum of care from preventive and longevity medicine to primary, urgent, and emergency needs. Our role is to understand what the member needs, make the right connections, keep relevant information organized, and help each part of the experience inform the next.
Integration does not mean that every service must happen under one roof. It means that the member should not be left to navigate a fragmented system alone. Behind the scenes, this requires communication, organization, clinical judgment, and trusted professional relationships. For the member, it should feel clear, coordinated, and personal.
From an appointment to an ongoing relationship
At The Maximum Life, we refer to the people we serve as members because the relationship is meant to extend beyond a single visit or moment of illness.
We want to know each member's health history, lifestyle, concerns, priorities, and long-term goals. We want them to feel recognized when they arrive, heard during every conversation, and supported after the appointment ends.
Warmth, discretion, responsiveness, and attention to detail are part of the care. They shape whether a person feels safe enough to ask questions, confident enough to make decisions, and supported enough to follow through.
My own journey showed me the difference the right medical team, the right guidance, and the right kind of relationship can make in a person's life. The Maximum Life is my way of making that relationship available to others.
This is the future we are building: medicine that is more proactive, expertise that is more connected, care that is more personal, and members who understand their own health well enough to participate in it with confidence.
More life in every year.
